The Passing of Former Director of Music Don Allan
It is with great sadness that we share the news that Don Allan, former Director of Music of the Burlington Teen Tour Band, passed away on Christmas Eve. Further details will be shared on the Alumni website, Instagram, Facebook and through the newsletter as they become available.
Mr. Allan began his journey with the BTTB as a woodwind instructor and went on to become the band’s third Director of Music in 1977, a role he held with dedication and pride until his retirement in 1998. His care, compassion and unwavering commitment to the young musicians he lead were truly legendary. Whether through his well-known phrases like “Ya ding ding” or “Suck lemons,” Mr. Allan always led by example, inspiring excellence while fostering a deep sense of belonging and respect.
Above all, Mr. Allan passed on his profound love of music to generations of Burlington youth, leaving a lasting impact that will continue to be felt for years to come. He will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by all whose lives he touched.

UPDATE: A celebration of life for Mr. A has been scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Smith's Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line. If you are able to attend, please join your fellow alumni in saying goodbye to a man who touched the lives of BTTB members for over 20 years.
